Australian Apprenticeships are an excellent first choice career option for young people and provide a real alternative to University. Apprenticeship programs are now as rewarding as higher education, both financially and professionally.

When undertaking an Australian Apprenticeship, structured training is combined with practical work experience providing a strong foundation for career progression. Qualifications achieved from an Australian Apprenticeship are nationally recognised and range from Certificate II to Diploma and Advanced Diploma.

Career Advice Australia is an excellent resource providing comprehensive information on careers and transitional support information for young Australians aged from 13 to 19 years of age. The support services of Career Advice Australia are delivered through:

  • Local Community Partnerships assist schools to deliver career development and transition support services.
  • Regional Industry Career Advisers ensure that young people, parents, schools and local business receive relevant localised industry career information, advice and resources.
  • National Industry Career Specialists represent 10 industry sectors, which support the Regional Industry Career Advisers by providing industry sector-specific information.
  • Youth Pathways offer personalised services to assist young people that are at risk of not making it through school and onto further education, training or employment.
  • Partnership Outreach Education Model (POEM) – a service which provides young people who are disconnected from mainstream schooling with another chance at learning through flexible and accredited education and training options.
