Completion Bonus
The Completion Bonus applies to Traineeship and Apprenticeship completions after 1 July 2003 and is subject to an eligibility criteria.
Apprentices
As of 1 July 2010, to maximise the retention and completion of apprentices, the payment to the employer of eligible apprentices has been increased to $4,000.
Trainees
As of 1 July 2010, incentives paid to employers of trainees will remain at $1,300 but is limited to employers that have trainees at Certificate III level and above.
The revised eligibility criteria as at 1 July 2010 are as follows:
- The employer must employ three or more eligible Trainees or Apprentices studying at Certificate III level and above
- The Trainee or Apprentice must be a ‘new entrant’ employee, not an existing employee
- The Trainee or Apprentice must be under 25 years old when they enter into the Training Contract
- School based Trainees and Apprentices are eligible provided the other criteria are met.
Early Completion Bonus – Apprenticeships only
The Early Completion Bonus of $1,000 is payable to any employer whose Apprentice completes their training more than six months early. This bonus does not apply to early completion of traineeships.
